Chiang Mai Youth
Thirteen of us make the trip to Chiang Mai from 3rd Dec to 9th Dec 2007. They are namely Jimmy Lim, Wayne Sim, Daniel Lim, Bernard Koh, Priscilla Tay, Gabriel Lim, Stella Lum, Michelle Tan, Dawn Tan, Joanne Wong, Wong Yew Pang and Lynn Yang.
The ministries that we did were as follows:
Refugee Camp at Petchumbon—Huay Nam Khao
There are 9000 people in this refugee camp of which 3000 are children. We traveled 450km south west of Chiang Mai and stay at a hotel 90km from the base of the refugee camp. We ministered to the children at a makeshift worship hall just outside the refugee camp. We did bible stories, songs and skit to minister to the precious little ones in the camp whose fate is fill with uncertainties. They have until next year to get out of the refugee camp otherwise they will be send back to Laos. We were touched by their singing, simple faith and joy in the Lord despite of their uncertain future.
We served milo and biscuits to about 600 children. These food items though simple is precious to them as they often have little or no food to eat. We prayed that the new Thailand government elected after 23rd Dec 2007 will find 'new homes' for these refugees.
Home Visitation
We make 10 home visitations during this mission trip. One was done at a village at the base of the refugee camp. We visited two families by sharing with them through songs, scripture verses and the gospel message. Our visitation bought much encouragement to each family that we visited. Another home visitation to four families in two separate group was done near the orphanage. We thank God that one invalid 84 year old lady by the name of Tunh accepted the Lord as her personal Savior.
We also visited another four families up in the mountain that is two hours away from Chiang Mai. It was very cold about 5 degrees during our visitation. Each family shared their plight with us and was very encouraged by our songs, scripture sharing, testimonies and love offering. Though it was cold our visitation brought much warmth, love and compassion in Christ to each family. We were thermostat to each family that we visited. We in turned felt blessed that our visitation was well received and is a blessing to those that we come in touch with. Many of us shed tears of compassion for the families we visited.
Orphanage
There are about 70 children Care Corner Orphanage. There are another 10 children who are HIV kids. We conducted a chapel service for the children at the orphanage through action songs and a short sermonette. We bonded with the children through telematches and games. All of us have great fun and fellowship with the children.
In between our program at the orphanage some of us cook lunch for the children and some of us help to serve lunch for the children.
We also did community work at the orphanage by building bamboo fence for a pond. The fencing is meant to keep the ducks which the orphanage intend to rear in the pond.
We even treated the children and staff of CCOF to a BBQ Korean Buffet dinner on the last night. We had a great time of fellowship at each table. The children felt very blessed by the wonderful food that they were able to partake that evening.
Public School
We visited two public schools one primary and one secondary near the vicinity of the orphanage. We minister to the students through bible stories, action songs, skit and art and craft. We also gave away goodies bags for each student. Inside each goodie bag we put in gospel tract in Thai Language so that the students can have the opportunity to come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Our team connected very well with the students despite the language barrier.
We want to thank God for the opportunity to go for this mission trip. When we go for mission trip we may think that we are bringing God to the mission field. God is already working in the mission field and as we avail ourselves to serve Him, He will demonstrate to us His Soverignity, Love and Grace.
We want to thank God also for the wonderful experience and that as we blessed those that we come in touch with our lives are transformed even more and will never be the same again.
Dr Alex Chao who died while treating sars patients in 2003 favorite saying is this, What I have said, few will remember, what I have done some will remember, but how I have make others feel will always be remember.
Based on what we have seen and experience, the harvest is indeed plentiful and laborers are few. We pray that God will raise up more workers so that we can all play our part to fulfill His Great Commandment and Great Commission.
All Praise, Glory and Honor to His Holy Name

Testimonies of some team members
I have learnt that God has more plans for me than I ever imagine. He taught me that if I offer my life to him, He will surely use me and take care of me just like He is taking care of His flock in Chiang Mai. – Michelle Tan
Definitely I learnt that we need to fully trust God in trips like these and other areas in life. The step and works we do through faith, we will be awed by what God can do through us. I learnt that in a simple world, simple things like a warm drink, biscuits, our simple presence, a prayer all can move mountains. We are too lost in a complex world of materialism and immoralism. – Wayne Sim
I now have the courage to evangelise and willing to share the Word of God as encouragement. I have also learnt to be content in every situation – Daniel Lim
God has showed me the way to be strong and be compassionate and to have a loving heart to help those less privilege. God's work are indeed marvelous. When there seems no way, he will find a way for us. – Joanne Wong
I felt that this trip has been an eye opener for me, even though it is not my first trip. It is a different experience compared to Myanmar as we do lot of home visitations here. I really felt that God is working wonderfully in the land of Chiang Mai and that we have sown may seeds in this trip. I also have grown spiritually during this trip seeing how many of us have shared and prayed for the people and the team and for everything that we are doing during this trip. It has really encouraged me to be able to the same in the future. It has really been a very meaningful trip and I have learnt that in all things we must always give thanks to the Lord. Even if we have anxieties, troubles we should not worry but pray and ask the Lord to just guide us through. Through out the trip Philippians 4:4-7 have really calmed me and gave me peace. – Dawn Tan
